Any of my lj lurkers know what it's like to be in an anorexia rehab program? :/ I'm trying to write the next chapter of MTTIC and I want it to be at least attempting authenticity. So far I'm just going off of after school specials and health videos.

I would very much appreciate if I could talk to someone about their experience. No judgment here, just want to get it right.

Of the quarter. Really, I should be studying, but there is only so much you can retain in the scant 15 minutes before you must take the plunge.

AND WHAT IS WITH US PAYING FOR OUR OWN SCANTRONS? I pay good money to learn this shit, yet I must pay for my own testing materials, aside from pencils? SERIOUSLY SCHOOL.

So one of my friends works as a codemonkey for Zynga, creator of the most addicting games on FB. I swear I only started playing because of this reason.

.....sooooo anyone play Frontierville and want to be my neighbor? :D

AND Ben Abruzzi's neighbor? I totally made him a facebook. Wheeeeee~

It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.

Thank you for all your kind words from my last post. But I should explain that the reviewer was giving me a good critique of my writing based of the first, and only the first, chapter of MTTIC. Their first review was very critical, but I appreciated it. I get a lot of reviews that basically say "update now!" with no added critique. I pm'ed them to explain that I wrote this back in high school, YEARS ago, and that I appreciated their review regardless, how I know how horribly the story needed rewritten.

In their pm back, they quite sincerely said that my writing style sounded like the kind Stephenie Meyer is accused of having, which is very blunt, grammatically unsound, and very "tell" over "show". The fact that the reviewer said that she also despised the Twilight books made the comment come off even worse.

I pm'ed them back a basic "that is the worse thing ANYONE could have said to me right now" (see my previous post about reading Twilight). I even said I'm considering taking it down.

They messaged me back today, here's the message:

"NO, don't take it down, look at it from an outside perspective. Read it and figure out what to take out and where to add. I would offer help if I felt competent as an editor in any way. If you want I could try. Maybe I can get some of my friends to read it too and see what happens. Sound helpful? It'll at least give you somewhere to start."
They really just was trying to improve the story, but they just HAD to say that I was like Stephenie Meyer.

I just got my writing compared to Stephenie Meyer's as in how bad it is. I'm gonna go curl up in a corner now.

Forget the fact we already have seven dogs. Mom got two more, because they needed homes.

Bella's Smart Thought: I knew I was eager to get to school because I would see Edward Cullen. And that was very, very stupid.

Another Smart Bella Thought: I was consumed by the mystery Edward presented. And more than a little obsessed by Edward himself. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

OMG Another One: I couldn't allow [Edward] to have this level of influence over me. It was pathetic. More than pathetic, it was unhealthy." IF ONLY SHE LISTENED TO HERSELF.

Bella Foreshadows Herself: "So, as long as I'm being...not smart, we'll try to be friends?"

I'm going to read this. I'm going to read this entire series. I'm going to only use libraries to find this book because S. Meyer donated tons of money to the Mormon church, which funded California's Prop 8. Y'know, the one banning gay marriage?

Got interviewed for my writing by Sweet Revolution Awards. (Got Best Full Cast, nominated for Best Supernatural and Judge's Pick for Funniest story)I was the first one too!

I'm going to Fanime '10 in San Jose, California! Whee! I'll be booth-babin' up in the artist alley, peddling Datesim!

So if anyone happens to be in the area, please stop by and say hi! I'd LOVE to meet y'all and it makes me feel all warm and special to know you guys are out there and not just little hits/visitors stats on my ficpress page!

Plus, if you come, I'll give you something! I dunno. Datesim schwag? Or maybe I'll write an AWESOME MTTIC sidestory and have hardcopies on me. Or something.

More info as I get it.

Just come up to the booth and ask for Draz. I'll probably be there, wearing a schoolgirl outfit. Maybe I can wear my green wig so I'm more obvious...? (Ha, obvious in a cosplay-tastic convention? snort)  If not, I'm sure the peeps there can get me.

So I wanted to share this MTTIC review, because it deeply touched me:

"Great chapter! Romeo is so sweet, that's a great twist in his character. I think he seems much more mature this chapter as well. One question: Didn't this used to fave a supernatural category? I was hoping there was some magic involved, heh. Still amazing though.

Not sure if you believe in fate, but this story just may have directed my career path! Back in 06 (can't believe it's been that long) when I started reading this, I didn't know what echolalia was so I wikied it. Well, that lead me to autism (because it's often a symptom) and that lead me to realize that I was autistic (now know I was not diagnosed as a child due to crazy circumstances), and that lead me to go into psychology and eventually to wanting to work with autistic kids.

I'm now in psych with a special ed focus and will be going to get an occupational therapy assistant degree in a year to work specifically with autistic children! So, (at least I believe) this story lead me to make major decisions in my life, isn't that crazy? Anyway, I love your work, please keep it up! I look forward to all that you will write in the future. Who knows, maybe it'll help me out again lol"
