EEEEEEE~ Desdemona, our Friesian mare, just started showing signs she's gonna foal soon. Like, tonight at the earliest and in a few days at the lastest.

It was funny to see my mom run through the house yelling "WE GOT WAX ON THE NIPPLES!" I went from thinking she got a full-body wax of some kind (urgk) until finally she got the words "Dezzy" and "BABIEZ!" out.

So we went out to check on her and wrap her tail. Dana checked her teats and accidentally squirted me with horse milk. Ew. Then she proceeded to taste it to see if it was sweet or salty, to figure out how soon the baby was coming. Double ew.

TL;DR: OMG EXPECTING HORSEY BABIES IN THE MORNING LIKE CHRISTMAS PRESENTS BUT WITH FURRY BABIES!

EIGHT HORSIES!....ACTUALLY NINE NOW! Desdemona now has a filllllyyyyyy. She was born this morning!

Ahem. My family breeds Friesians, which are reeeeaaallly pretty black horsies from the Netherlands.

So far we got:

Desdemona, her baby, Coco Chanel (her other baby), Gauguin, Lyxandre, Rense, and then the foxtrotters Traveler and Bentley. And then we have Gazelle, who is technically not ours.

PICTURES SHALL BE FORTHCOMING.

HOW SHINY. Do you breed them for shows? To sell? OR JUST AS REALLY BIG DOGS? :D

DAMN STRAIGHT, THERE ARE GONNA BE PICTURES. XD

We breed them for pedigree shows. There's this whole Dutch registry thing that is really intense since the breed nearly died out at the turn of the century.

Originally we were just stud people but ever since mom got Desdemona, who is a high-ranking mare, we've became mare people. Because stallions require a lot more work to get them approved by the registry. And mares....well, BABIES!

UPLOADING PICTURES NOW.

FRIESIANS ARE REALLY PRETTY. They are all noble and manly looking. <3

Also, wow. It's a little weird to ask, but on how much would a Friesian cost? DON'T WORRY. I SWEAR IT'S THE SAME KIND OF QUESTIONS I ASK WHENEVER I GO TO A DOG BREEDER EXCEPT I DO NOT KNOW YOUR HORSE JARGON.

My uncle use to have horses, I think he bred them for racing.

TOO MUCH. Friesians are one of the most expensive breeds, like Gypsy Vanners. It depends on the papers, breeding, and current ranking in the registry. But a "star/ster" (the first ranking) stallion can be over USD$20,000.

I stole this from a website:

Weanlings to 1 year olds $7,000-12,000
Colt or filly 2-3 year olds $9,000-19,000
Geldings/Stallions undersaddle 3+ yrs $12,000-28,000
Stallions Under saddle 3+ years $17,000-30,000
Star Geldings $18,000-26,000
Mares 3+ years $14,000-23,000
Star Mares $25,000-$40,000
Preferant Mares no quotes, very rarely for sale, would depend on age
Model Mares $40,000 -100,000
Qualified Stallions $200,000-600,000
Approved Stallions (qualified on offspring) $300,000-600,000
